Fully automated preparation of bending sequences for AMADA bending robots

AstroCAM has achieved the automation of bending, which has been the most challenging issue in sheet metalprocessing. A user-friendly system, the ASTRO-100 NT bending robot supports "lights-out" operation to produce various types and volumes of production without need for rate reduction or training. Using a 3D-CAD design, AstroCAM is able to fully automatically prepare the entire program for the ASTRO-100 NT bending cell. Using the DataManager, the user only selects the desired drawing from the central AP100 SDD database and imports this drawing directly into AstroCAM.

The AstroCAM programming software is fully operational in 3D mode, allowing all bending sequences and motion sequences to be realistically simulated.

The fast program preparation saves time and prevents potential programming errors by performing a simulated collision check. The required grippers and bending tools are selected directly from the AP100 SDD database. The punch and die tool layout is performed with a selection menu and is directly integrated into the 3D programming environment and represented there. If necessary, all sequences can be individually modified.

AstroCAM stores all production relevant data in the central AP100 SDD database. Programs are manually read from the database into the machine control, or alternatively by means of barcode scanner.
